10 most expected TV shows in 2016


With just a few days left of 2015, producers are brushing the last details of the most expected TV series of the next year. Here are our favorites:

1Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands

Gregory Fitoussi, Ace Bhatti, David Bradley, Lee Boardman and Joe Sims have joined an incredible global cast for the production of ITV’s impressive show, Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands. The actors are expected to team up with Kieran Bew to create this action-paced 13 episode drama series, which is set in the fabled Shieldlands, a scene of danger and spectacle inhabited by both humans and mystical creatures. Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands is a drama series that revolves around love, loyalty, courage, power, betrayal, greed, and revenge. It is a series about heroes and villains and aims to explore the idea of good and evil. However, apart from these political feelings and the inner turmoil, there is the excitement and feeling of adventure that comes with the great Western. Great fights, exciting chases, attacks, festivities and duels are an integral part of the premise.

2The Shannara Chronicles

In early December 2013, it was reported that a TV show based on the book, The Elfstones of Shannara, was to be aired by MTV. In July 2015, the Shannara Chronicles teasers trailer was released, giving fans a glimpse of the characters and sets. Another version of the teaser trailer was aired during the recent MTV Music Awards. A series of war, evil and adventures occur throughout the duration of the Four Lands, taking up to 42 minutes. The director of the series is Jonathan Lieberman and the cast includes Austin Butler, Emilia Burns, Manu Bennett and Ivana Baquero.



For lots of comic novel fans, Preacher (2016) is one of the most highly anticipated TV shows in 2016. After several years of production, the highly praised comic will eventually be adapted for TV, directed by Seth Rogen alongside his usual filmmaking colleague Evan Goldberg. In the premise, a preacher goes on a trip to fight the supernatural powers that have just destroyed his Texas backyard. This TV series stars Thomas Barbusca, Euphrates ‘Tee’ Arthur, Jamie Anne Allman and Dominic Cooper.

4Vikings: Season 4


This TV show has already reached its fourth season and hence, it’s not new. If you are enthusiastic about the game of thrones, but you have not watched Vikings yet, then you are missing out. A 2013 production by Michael Hirst (the creator of The Tudors), this series is inspired by the adventures of the celebrated Viking warrior called Ragnar Lothbrok, who raided and terrorized France and England before becoming king . Former model Fimmel Travis stars Ragnar while the feminist heroine Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha) is one of the most impressive female actors of recent times. Add epic fights, to an impressive cast and you have a great reason to wait a few months for the start of Vikings Season 4.

5Queen of the South

Queen of the South

Queen of the South narrated the story of the Braga (Teresa Mendoza). Once her drug-dealing fiancée is suddenly killed in Mexico, the powerful Teresa decides to escape to America where she meets with a dubious character from her past to take her to the very same vice that has seen her seek refuge in that country. In due course, she learns the ropes and quickly becomes the new leaders of the drug-dealing cartel. This series is produced by Joshua John Miller and M.A Martins, alongside Pancho Mansfield. The plot is co-written by Miller and Fortin. The director is Charlotte Sieling while Fox 21 TV Studios produced and developed the pilot. The cast includes Jon Michael Ecker, Justina Machado, Joaquim De Almeida and Alice Braga.

6The Magicians

The Magicians

A teaser trailer has been released for a new TV series known as the Magicians. This show tells the story of a young man who enrolls in a magic college in the American city of New York. The story line is based on the impressive fantasy trilogy by author Lev Grossman. The first season of the show will be made up of 12 different episodes. It is directed by Mike Cahill and the cast includes Arjun Gupta, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Jason Ralph, and Jade Tailor.



This show tells the story of a New York–based music director in the 70s who strives to succeed in his career despite the many obstacles he faces in the city’s varied music scene. The TV show will premiere on 14th February, 2014. The pilot was created by winter and directed by Martin Scorsese. The cast includes Max Casella, Bobby Cannavale, P. Byrne and Paul Ben Victor. The initial season will comprise 10 episodes.

8The Family

The Family

This show tells the story of a politician’s son, who was allegedly dead after disappearing more than a decade earlier. The show stars Joan Allen as wicked Claire Warren, the scheming mayor of the fictitious city of Red Pines and the Warren family, which is determined to win the city’s gubernatorial seat once her son returns after his kidnapping ordeal 12 years earlier. The show will air in early 2016. Other members of the cast include Alison Pill, Joan Allen, Madelleine Arthur and Margot Bingham.

9Legends of Tomorrow

It will be a while before this series starts airing, but there is a lot of information available for fans to get a glimpse of what to expect when the shows finally hits the airwaves. Both the Flash and Arrow have their heroes safeguarding their territories, but the protagonists in this show will be responsible for safeguarding the world and everything in it. There was also a short video uploaded behind the scenes before the teaser trailer was released featuring discussions by the leading actors. The cast in Legends of Tomorrow features Arthur Darvill, Caity Lotz, Brandon Routh and Victor Garber.



Originally referred to as Titans, Outsiders is one of the long-awaited TV shows in 2016. A struggle for control and power has engulfed the rugged and mystical mountainous areas of Appalachia. The series is based on the story of the Farrell as they are determined to gain power at all costs. The series is set to hit the airwaves in early 2016. The first trailer was unleashed in October 2015. It is directed by Michael Trim while the cast includes Jackson Frazer, Johanna McGinley, Ed Heavey, and Danielle Brickman.
